Post-Laser Skincare: How I Take Care of My Skin After Sessions

Post-Laser Skincare: How I Take Care of My Skin After Sessions Laser sessions can make your skin feel like it's been through a lot – because it has. Whether it's laser hair removal or a facial treatment, your skin needs serious TLC after. Here’s how I personally take care of mine to keep it calm, happy, and glowing. Step 1: Ice & Calm Right after a laser session, I gently apply a cold pack or wrap some ice in a soft cloth and press it on the treated area. It soothes the heat and keeps inflammation down. Step 2: Cleanse Gently I use a fragrance-free, non-foaming cleanser like CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser or Avene. Nothing harsh – just a simple, calming face wash to remove sweat or sunscreen. Step 3: Moisturize Like Crazy This is where the healing begins. I apply a thick layer of La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 or Uriage Bariéderm Cica . These balms help restore the skin barrier and lock in moisture. Step 4: Avoid These for a Few Days No exfoliating –...

How to Layer Skincare Products (Without Overdoing It)

How to Layer Skincare Products (Without Overdoing It)

Let’s be real – skincare can get confusing. Do I use toner first? When does serum go in? What if I just want to slap on moisturizer and sleep?

Don’t worry. Here’s the simple, no-stress guide to layering your skincare like a pro – without overdoing it or irritating your skin.

Step 1: Cleanser (Always First)

Whether it’s morning or night, cleansing is the first step. You need a clean canvas before applying anything. Stick to a gentle, non-stripping cleanser that suits your skin type.

Step 2: Toner or Mist (Optional)

If you use toners, apply them right after cleansing. Hydrating mists or toners with soothing ingredients can prep your skin to absorb the next products better. But it’s not a must.

Step 3: Serums (The Good Stuff)

This is where the magic happens. Apply your water-based serums first (like niacinamide, hyaluronic acid), then any oil-based ones (like facial oils or vitamin E). Always go from thinnest to thickest texture.

Step 4: Eye Cream (If You Use One)

Gently tap it in with your ring finger – no rubbing. This goes before your moisturizer.

Step 5: Moisturizer

Lock everything in. Use a lightweight gel in the morning, or a thicker cream at night. If you skip this step, your serums won’t be sealed in.

Step 6: Sunscreen (Morning Only)

This is your shield. Never skip sunscreen in the daytime, no matter how good your skincare is. Apply it as the last step in the morning.

Extra Tips:

  • Don’t layer too many actives (like vitamin C + retinol + acids) in one routine.
  • If your skin feels sticky or irritated, you’re probably using too much or applying in the wrong order.
  • Less is more. Consistency beats chaos.

Your skin is smart – it doesn’t need a thousand steps. Just a little love, a little glow, and the right order.

With love,
R. Bloom
