Post-Laser Skincare: How I Take Care of My Skin After Sessions
Laser sessions can make your skin feel like it's been through a lot – because it has. Whether it's laser hair removal or a facial treatment, your skin needs serious TLC after. Here’s how I personally take care of mine to keep it calm, happy, and glowing.
Step 1: Ice & Calm
Right after a laser session, I gently apply a cold pack or wrap some ice in a soft cloth and press it on the treated area. It soothes the heat and keeps inflammation down.
Step 2: Cleanse Gently
I use a fragrance-free, non-foaming cleanser like CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser or Avene. Nothing harsh – just a simple, calming face wash to remove sweat or sunscreen.
Step 3: Moisturize Like Crazy
This is where the healing begins. I apply a thick layer of La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 or Uriage Bariéderm Cica. These balms help restore the skin barrier and lock in moisture.
Step 4: Avoid These for a Few Days
- No exfoliating – chemical or physical
- No active ingredients (like retinol or acids)
- No makeup (at least for 24–48 hours)
- No direct sun or sweating
Step 5: Sunscreen is Not Optional
Even if you’re staying home, use a mineral sunscreen with SPF 50. Your skin is sensitive and more prone to hyperpigmentation after laser. I like using tinted sunscreens to even things out without makeup.
Bonus Tip:
Hydrate from the inside too. I drink lots of water, avoid spicy foods, and sleep well after a session – it actually helps my skin heal faster.
Final Thoughts
Post-laser skincare doesn’t have to be complicated – just gentle, consistent, and protective. If you treat your skin kindly after laser, it will thank you with better results and fewer side effects.
With calm skin love,
R. Bloom
